Weston County Sportsman's Club

Westoncountyshooting.net is the official website of the Weston County Sportsman's Club, a non-profit shooting organization in Weston County located in Northeastern Wyoming. This facility is located in the county seat of Newcastle Wyoming at the intersection of highways 85 and 16. Newcastle is on the western edge of the Black Hills not far from Gillette WY or the well known landmarks of Mount Rushmore (South Dakota) and Devils Tower.

The organization has been around for over 30 years. It was created by a group of local sportsmen and women in the mid-1980s. They wanted a place to shoot without trespassing. The group talked about it for a couple years before finally forming the club in the spring of 1989. City Councilman Bob Smith was instrumental in getting the city to lease the old city dump to the club for a small fee. Ground breaking for the site was in the spring of 1992. First President was Doran Hines followed by Dan Epperson in April 1991. The range was opened on September 20, 1991.

The club held it's first annual Gun Show in March 1992. In 2004 the annual Gun Show was moved to the Senior Center where it is still held today.

How to Find Us

The range is located on the outskirts of Newcastle just below the landmark water tower. Look for the large red/orange tank with the black Dogie (pronounced Doe-gee) mascot painted on it. Access to the shooting range and club house is from the highway 16 bypass. Turn south on Rodeo Street off the west end of the bypass as it goes over the railroad tracks. Then turn left (east) on Sheridan Street. Take it to the end, then turn right (south) on Divide Ave. Follow it around until you get to the gated entrance shown on the Home page.

The GPS address for the Rifle and Pistol range is:
2001 Divide Ave., Newcastle, Wyoming
The Trap Range is at the end of Sweet Pea Trl, next to the Newcastle city water tower. This road is not on most maps/GPS.
